Suzy Cube Update: November 3, 2017

#SuzyCube #gamedev #indiedev #madewithunity
So many distractions! Cleaning up after our party last weekend coupled with some training at the Embassy means Suzy didn't get the full love she deserves this week. That being said, let's have a look at what I did get around to.

How Special!

Most of my Suzy work this week was spent working on special levels. There are two types of 'special' levels in the game, if you will. Each of the game's five regular worlds includes one special stage. These all stray from the gameplay found in normal levels and serve as a distraction, of sorts, from the game's main levels.

Like a purple acid trip!

These special stages are all set in this abstract purple world which I recently decorated with weird, out of focus particles which float around like colourful fireflies.

The second type of special level are found in the game's Special World. These are levels which are unlocked by finding all the Stars hidden in the game's regular levels. As you can see in the screenshots, I've decided not to spoil these levels to retain some mystery.

Well, we know it's set in a forest environment...

Unlike the special stages, the Special World levels are meant to be extra challenging to put the skills of expert players to the test. These levels are not included as part of the main game and are meant for only the most completionist minded players. They are being built with challenge in mind, first and foremost.

I've completed the design on Level S-1 and made some good progress on Level S-5. I hope to pump these out at a pretty good clip so you can expect a number of my upcoming updates to include blurred out screenshots.

On that, I'm off to complete work on Level S-5. Thanks for checking in and I hope to find you here again next week. Bye for now!
